UgCS has been designed from the ground-up to be a true multi-platform flight planning software for drones.

  1. MENU :Click to access to Main Menu and Create/Delete/Import/Export new Missions. On Main Menu, you can create Vehicle Profiles. .

  1. MAP OPTIONS :Click to access to Map Layers. On Map Layers, you can upload customs DEM for Terrain Following missions

  1. ADD NEW ROUTE: By clicking this button, you add a new Route to the current Mission. Each new Route configuration pane will be added at the right side of the button

  1. ADD VEHICLE: By clicking this button, you add a new Vehicle. Each new Vehicle configuration pane will be added at the left side of this button. You may then assign a Vehicle Profile to this Vehicle

Creating Vehicle Profile

UgCS allows you to create Vehicles and Profiles for those vehicles. By default, there are three Vehicles created:

  • Ardupilot platform (APM-1)
  • Emulators:
    • EMU-101
    • EMU-102

The following steps show how to create a Vehicle Profile and assign it to the APM-1 Vehicle.

Steps to Create a Vehicle Profile

  1. Navigate to the Vehicle Settings:
    Access the "Vehicle Settings" tab in the UgCS interface.

  2. Create a New Profile:

    • Click on "Add New Profile".
    • Provide a unique name for the profile.
    • Select the Vehicle Type (e.g., fixed-wing, multirotor, etc.).
  3. Assign the Profile to APM-1 Vehicle:

    • In the Vehicle List, select the APM-1 Vehicle.
    • Under the "Profiles" section, assign the newly created profile.
  4. Save Changes:

    • Ensure all fields are completed correctly.
    • Click "Save" to apply the changes.

  • Profiles allow customization of settings specific to each vehicle, such as payload capabilities, flight characteristics, and communication settings.
  • For detailed instructions, refer to the UgCS Documentation.

  1. On Main Window, click on Menu/Main Menu. Then go to Profiles and finally click on Create New.

  1. On the floating windows that shows up, assign a name, choose Ardupilot as Platform, and fill the cells as shown below.

Uploading DEM

All altitudes in imported DEMs are assumed to be above WG84 ellipsoid. No other vertical data are supported.

  1. On Main Window, click on Map Options/Map Layers. Then go to the Elevation tab, and finally click on the Add button.

  1. Assign an unique name, leave Type as Geoserver, and click on Create.

  1. While having the recently created layer selected, click on Upload and browse on the computer the DEM file to be upload. Notice that you can re-order the layers by clicking on the Up/Down arrow at the right side of the layers. Finally, you can click on the Focus button to center the Main Window map on the layer.
